Bladder infection is one of the health conditions caused due to bacterial infection. Cystisis, commonly referred to as bladder infection is caused due to invasion of certain bacteria in the urinary tract. As a result of these bacteria, bladder and urethra gets infected. Bladder infections are one of the commons diseases, especially in women.
Collection of urine from kidneys, before urine is excreted through urination, is main function of the bladder. When the bladder gets stretched, the detrusor muscle contracts and stimulates the urinary bladder to expel urine through urethra (a tube which transports urine).
Symptoms of bladder infection: Slow or jolting pains are the main symptom of bladder infection. Slightly irritated bladder (caused due to infection) is characteristic of bladder infection. Usually, such irritation does not produce severe pains. Bladder infection may lead to inflammation of inner lining of the bladder.
Causes and Risk Factors of bladder infection: Women are considered as comparatively more vulnerable to bladder infections as women urethras are nearby vagina and anus. This body structure provides easy access for the bacteria to enter urinary tract. Men suffering from prostrate disorder have the risk of developing bladder infection.

Prevention of bladder infection: Maintaining proper hygiene plays greater role in prevention of bladder infection. Use of underwear that provide adequate comfort (preferably made from cotton), responding to nature s call in time (not suppressing the urge for urination) can help in prevention of bladder infection.
Diagnosis of bladder infection: Bladder infections are diagnosed with the help of urine examination. If required, urine culture examination, which is conducted to study the growth of bacteria within period of 48 hours, is suggested.
Treatment of Bladder Infection: Generally, certain antibiotics are prescribed for treatment of bladder infections. Normally, antibiotics cure the infection within a fortnight period. It is important that patient completes the complete course of antibiotics. This will help in complete elimination of bacteria and also prevent recurrence of bladder infection.
Use of high doses of Vitamin A, C and E has produced phenomenal results in bladder infection cure. Increase in fluid intake will also help up to certain extent. Supplements like colloidal silver, colloidal gold etc can be used as complementary medication for faster relief and prevention of bladder infections.
